Game 4 Preview: Ginebra vs. San Miguel

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is just one win away from inching closer to the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup Finals, as they take on the San Miguel Beermen in Game 4 of their best-of-seven semifinal series on Wednesday, October 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Gin Kings reclaimed control of the series with a 99-95 victory in Game 3, and they are now poised to push the Beermen to the brink of elimination with another win. Ginebra’s relentless attack has been fueled by their superstar import, Justin Brownlee, whose all-around performance in Game 3—30 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and five blocks—proved to be the difference-maker.

Brownlee’s heroics have Ginebra firmly in the driver’s seat, and a win on Wednesday would give them a commanding 3-1 series lead, moving them one step closer to another Finals appearance.

With a two-day break allowing the team to rest and recover, the Gin Kings and the Beermen are expected to come out firing in their quest to secure a spot in the Finals..

San Miguel is in must-win mode. The Beermen, who have struggled to maintain consistency throughout the series, are counting on their key players to step up in Game 4. Eight-time league MVP June Mar Fajardo, limited to just 12 points on eight attempts in Game 3, will need to be more aggressive if San Miguel hopes to even the series.

EJ Anosike has been the most reliable option for San Miguel, leading the charge with 32 points and 10 rebounds in Game 3. However, he’ll need more support, particularly from CJ Perez, who finished with just 13 points and struggled to find his rhythm. For the Beermen to bounce back, both Fajardo and Perez must deliver bigger performances, especially in the face of Ginebra’s defensive schemes.

A win for the Beermen in Game 4 would tie the series at 2-2, breathing new life into their Finals aspirations. But Ginebra’s momentum and Brownlee’s leadership will make it a tough task for San Miguel to level the series. Both teams are hungry, and the stage is set for another thrilling showdown as the semifinals march toward its conclusion.

With everything on the line, fans can expect a fiercely contested battle as Ginebra looks to tighten its grip on the series, while San Miguel fights to keep its championship hopes alive.
