ZUS Coffee Extends Hot Streak, Sweeps Petro Gazz
ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles continued its dream run in the 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference, sweeping the Petro Gazz Angels, 25-22, 25-21, 25-20, on Tuesday at the Playtime FilOil Centre in San Juan City.
With the victory, the Thunderbelles improved to 4-0, moving just one win away from completing a first-round sweep in Pool B — a franchise-best start in their young PVL stint.
American import Anna DeBeer once again took charge for ZUS Coffee, erupting for 23 points on 22 attacks and a block while also anchoring the team’s defense with steady floor coverage. Her explosive showing powered the Thunderbelles through crucial stretches.
Rookie middle blocker AC Miner continued her impressive debut season with 11 points from eight kills, two blocks, and an ace, while veteran leader Jovelyn Gonzaga showcased her trademark all-around game, tallying nine points, nine digs, and six excellent receptions. Setter Clo Mondoñedo masterfully directed the Thunderbelles’ offense with 23 excellent sets, while libero Alyssa Eroa guarded the floor with 12 digs and 12 receptions.
ZUS Coffee’s composure was on full display in the final frame. After DeBeer’s back-to-back hits brought the Thunderbelles to match point at 24-18, Petro Gazz briefly stayed alive behind Brooke Van Sickle, before DeBeer sealed the deal with a powerful crosscourt hit to finish the one-hour, 28-minute match.

Despite the loss, the Angels still capped the first round on a positive note and will await final Pool B standings to determine their next-round bracket.
Import Lindsey Vander Weide paced Petro Gazz with 17 points and five receptions, while Van Sickle contributed 12 points, eight digs, and five receptions. Myla Pablo and MJ Phillips added 10 and nine markers, respectively.
The unbeaten Thunderbelles will aim for a perfect Pool B sweep when they face the Akari Chargers (3-1) on November 4 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
