PLDT Turns Back Farm Fresh in Tight Three-Set Battle to Open PVL On Tour Campaign
PLDT High Speed Hitters kicked off their 2025 PVL on Tour campaign on a high note, outlasting the Farm Fresh Foxies in a thrilling straight-sets win, 25-18, 25-21, 28-26, on Tuesday afternoon at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
The High Speed Hitters appeared in full control through the first two sets but had to dig deep in the third after trailing by four, 19-23. Kiesha Bedonia sparked a crucial 5-0 run that flipped the script, giving PLDT a 24-23 edge. However, Alohi Robins-Hardy answered with a clever drop to push Farm Fresh back in front, 26-25.
After a series of tight exchanges, the set saw three deadlocks until Lorene Toring committed a costly attack error, allowing PLDT to regain the lead. Mika Reyes then shut the door with a game-winning block on Caitlyn Viray, sealing the hard-earned win in an intense battle.
With main scorer Savi Davison still on break in Canada, Bedonia stepped up in a big way, delivering 14 points on 10 attacks, two blocks, and two aces. Reyes added 10 markers built on seven attacks and three blocks to anchor PLDT’s front line.
Team captain Kath Arado was rock-solid on defense, finishing with 20 excellent digs and 13 excellent receptions. Setter Angge Alcantara orchestrated the offense with 20 excellent sets.
For Farm Fresh, Trisha Tubu led the scoring with 14 points, followed by Rizza Cruz who chipped in 10. Making her PVL debut, No. 3 overall pick Alohi Robins-Hardy tallied nine points and five excellent sets in a promising performance.
Next up, PLDT will face Petro Gazz on July 12 in Ilagan City, while Farm Fresh will aim to bounce back when they take on Choco Mucho on the same day and venue.
