PLDT High Speed Hitters Stun Creamline to Reach First PVL Finals

The PLDT High Speed Hitters continued their perfect run in the 2025 PVL on Tour after outlasting the Creamline Cool Smashers in a five-set thriller, 27–25, 22–25, 19–25, 25–16, 15–10, in the knockout semifinals on Tuesday, August 12, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

With the hard-fought victory, PLDT advanced to the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Finals for the first time in franchise history, ending Creamline’s streak of consecutive finals appearances that dated back to 2022.

The High Speed Hitters had to dig deep after falling behind 2-1 in sets. But star spiker Savi Davison delivered a clutch performance, firing eight of her game-high 34 points in the deciding frame to power PLDT’s comeback. Davison sealed the win with an off-the-block kill after Creamline briefly cut the lead behind Alyssa Valdez and Jema Galanza.

Davison’s scoring explosion came off 30 attacks, two blocks, and two aces, showing why she has become PLDT’s go-to weapon in crunch time. Supporting her efforts, Kim Dy chipped in 14 points, while libero Kath Arado anchored the defense with 16 excellent digs and 23 receptions.

On the other side, the Cool Smashers saw their finals streak snapped. Jema Galanza led Creamline with 20 points, while Alyssa Valdez scored 18 in a vintage showing and Michele Gumabao added 16. It marked the first time since the 2022 Reinforced Conference that Creamline missed the championship round.

With the win, PLDT remained unbeaten at 8-0 in the tournament and will face the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in the PVL on Tour Finals on Sunday, August 17, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
