Choco Mucho rallies past ZUS Coffee for first win

Choco Mucho Flying Titans overcame a slow start to defeat ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles, 14-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-18, in the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference on Saturday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

The victory marked Choco Mucho’s first win of the conference, improving their record to 1-2 and creating a three-way tie for third place in Pool B with Petro Gazz and Capital1.

Royse Tubino emerged as the hero for Choco Mucho, delivering a game-high 21 points off an efficient 21-of-42 clip in attacks. Her dominant performance in the latter sets was crucial in turning the tide in favor of the Flying Titans.

Isa Molde contributed 17 points, while Maddie Madayag and Maika Ortiz added nine and eight points, respectively.

ZUS Coffee, led by Asaka Tamaru‘s 23 points, struggled to maintain their momentum after a strong first set.

The Thunderbelles were unable to contain Choco Mucho’s offensive surge, particularly from Tubino, as the Flying Titans dominated the match in terms of spiking (59-49) and blocking (9-7).

With this victory, Choco Mucho gains valuable momentum as they prepare to face Capital1 Solar Spikers in their next match. ZUS Coffee, now 0-3, will look to secure their first win against the Petro Gazz Angels.
