Ginebra vs. San Miguel (Game 6) // PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup Semifinals

The San Miguel Beermen look to close out their PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup semifinal series against Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in Game 6 on Sunday, July 7, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Coming off a strong 103-92 win in Game 5, the Beermen now hold a 3-2 series lead and are just one win away from returning to the All-Filipino Finals. CJ Perez and Jericho Cruz powered San Miguel’s Game 5 triumph, combining for 58 points, including clutch buckets that sealed the win late in the fourth quarter.

Perez delivered a game-high 31 points, 12 of which came in the final frame, while Cruz exploded for 27 points off the bench in his best scoring performance of the season. Their scoring surge erased Ginebra’s early lead and flipped the game with a decisive 13-4 run down the stretch.

June Mar Fajardo, still playing through a calf injury, remained a steady presence inside with 14 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, and three blocks, while Don Trollano added balance on both ends with 11 points and solid perimeter play.

Ginebra, meanwhile, now finds itself with its back against the wall. Maverick Ahanmisi led the Kings with 19 points in Game 5, while Scottie Thompson, Jamie Malonzo, Japeth Aguilar, and Troy Rosario all scored in double figures. However, the Gin Kings were unable to contain San Miguel’s second-half surge and will need a more consistent effort on both ends of the floor to stay alive.

The series has been a back-and-forth battle, but now the margin for error is gone—Ginebra must win Game 6 to force a winner-take-all Game 7, while San Miguel hopes to finish what they started and punch their ticket to the finals for the first time since 2022.
