PSC Approves ₱5,000 Allowance Increase for National Athletes, Simplifies Reporting Requirements

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) has announced a significant development for members of the National Training Pool (NTP) with the approval of a ₱5,000 across-the-board increase in monthly allowances for both athletes and coaches.

In an advisory (NSA Advisory 031—2025) posted on the PSC’s official Facebook page, the commission confirmed that the allowance hike will take effect in August 2025, covering the period of July 1 to 31, 2025, and will continue in the succeeding months.

The PSC described this move as part of its ongoing commitment to support Filipino sports talents and recognize their dedication and sacrifices in representing the country.

Simplified Reporting Process

Alongside the increase in financial support, the PSC also announced a streamlined administrative process to lessen the documentation burden on athletes and coaches.

Effective August 2025, the Daily Time Record (DTR) and the Comprehensive Activity Report—previously required for allowance disbursement—will no longer be mandatory. Instead, National Sports Associations (NSAs) must now submit a Monthly Training Attendance Certification (MTAC) as the sole basis for allowance release.

This new certification must be:

  • Duly signed by the NSA President or Secretary General
  • Notarized before submission

The PSC emphasized that this updated process is aimed at improving efficiency, ensuring accountability, and most importantly, allowing athletes and coaches to focus more on training and preparation rather than paperwork.

A separate advisory containing detailed guidelines and the official MTAC template will be released soon, according to the PSC.

The Commission urged all NSAs to immediately disseminate the information to their respective NTP members and ensure full compliance with the revised procedures.

“This is a step forward in providing better support for our national athletes and coaches,” said Atty. Guillermo B. Iroy, Jr., Officer-in-Charge Executive Director of the PSC.
