Game 4 Preview: NLEX vs. TNT

The TNT Tropang Giga are on the cusp of securing another semifinals appearance as they prepare to take on the NLEX Road Warriors in Game 4 of their PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup quarterfinal series on October 1 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Following a dominant 109-91 victory in Game 3, TNT holds a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series and will have their first opportunity to close it out on Tuesday.

TNT regained control of the series with an emphatic performance in Game 3, where they built a lead as large as 26 points. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson led the charge for the Tropang Giga with a near triple-double, posting 27 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists. His versatility and leadership have been key throughout the series, and TNT will be counting on another big game from their import to finish the series strong.

In addition to Hollis-Jefferson, TNT’s locals stepped up in Game 3, with Calvin Oftana scoring 18 points, and Rey Nambatac and Glenn Khobuntin each contributing 17 points. The Tropang Giga will look to maintain this balanced attack as they aim to secure their place in the semifinals and continue their title defense.

Meanwhile, the NLEX Road Warriors face a must-win situation as they head into Game 4. After struggling to keep up with TNT in Game 3, NLEX will need to regroup quickly to extend the series to a deciding Game 5.

Offensive stars DeQuan Jones and Robert Bolick had off nights in Game 3, scoring just 16 and 12 points, respectively. NLEX will need stronger performances from both players if they hope to keep their playoff run alive.

Tip-off for the pivotal Game 4 is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, with TNT hoping to seal the series and NLEX determined to force a Game 5.
