Joanie Delgaco is set to make history as the first Filipina rower to compete in the Olympics. Representing the Philippines in the Women’s Single Sculls event, Delgaco will be rowing against the world’s best in Paris.

Delgaco’s journey to the Olympics began with a strong performance at the World Rowing Asian and Oceanian Olympic Qualification Regatta in Chungju, South Korea. She secured her spot by finishing fourth in the women’s single sculls event.

Joanie Delgaco highlights in 2024 Olympics

Heat 2

Philippine rowing’s lone representative Joanie Delgaco fell short of advancing to the quarterfinals in her heat, finishing fourth in Heat 2 of the Women’s Single Sculls with a time of 7:56.26.

Despite not securing a top-two finish to advance directly to the quarterfinals, Delgaco still has a chance to move on. She will compete in the Repechage tomorrow, where she needs to finish in the top two to secure a spot in the quarterfinals.

Filipina rower Joanie Delgaco has secured her spot in the quarterfinals of the Women’s Single Sculls after a dominant performance in the Repechage.

Delgaco, who narrowly missed out on a direct quarterfinals berth after finishing fourth in her heat, bounced back impressively. She dominated Repechage 1, crossing the finish line first with a time of 7:55.00, securing her place in the next round.
