Strong Group dominates Chinese Taipei-B, sets up championship clash
The Philippines’ Strong Group Athletics continued their impressive run in the 2024 William Jones Cup Men’s Basketball Tournament, defeating Chinese Taipei-Team B by a commanding score of 96-70 on Saturday, July 20th, at Xinzhuang Gymnasium in New Taipei City, Taiwan.
This victory extends their perfect record to 7-0, setting the stage for a championship showdown against fellow undefeated team Chinese Taipei-Blue (Team A) on Sunday.
Strong Group showcased their dominance from the outset, establishing a commanding 30-15 lead after the first quarter. They maintained control throughout the game, with five players scoring in double figures.
Chris McCullough once again led the scoring charge with 25 points and 7 rebounds. His efficiency from the free-throw line (10-of-13) was crucial in extending Strong Group’s lead.
Kiefer Ravena, RJ Abarrientos, Jordan Heading, DJ Fenner, and Geo Chiu all contributed significantly to the win, showcasing the team’s depth and balanced scoring. Abarrientos’ playmaking and Fenner’s versatility were particularly impressive.
