PVL on Tour 2025 Kicks Off in Vigan: Creamline, Cignal, Akari, and Capital1 Set for Opening Battles
The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) is set to ignite provincial volleyball excitement as it kicks off the highly anticipated PVL on Tour this Sunday, June 22, at the newly inaugurated Chavit Coliseum in Vigan, Ilocos Sur. This pre-season showcase is expected to deliver the same thrilling action and intensity that fans enjoy during the regular season.
Leading the opening day slate is the crowd-favorite Creamline Cool Smashers, the league’s most decorated team with 10 championships, as they face off against the Capital1 Solar Spikers at 6:30 p.m. Before that, the revamped Cignal HD Spikers go up against the Akari Chargers at 4:00 p.m. in what promises to be a fiery curtain-raiser.
Capital1 will miss the services of top overall draft pick Bella Belen, but the team has fortified its roster with key additions like Jerili Malabanan and Rachel Austero. On the other hand, Cignal retooled by acquiring Erika Santos, Tine Tiamzon, and rookie Erin Pangilinan, while Akari enters the tour under new head coach Tina Salak, who replaces former mentor Taka Minowa.
The action continues on Monday, June 23, with Cignal battling Capital1 at 4:00 p.m., followed by a showdown between Creamline and Akari at 6:30 p.m.
As per the PVL’s official schedule, the tour will feature matches in six provincial locations during the pool stage. Aside from the lone Metro Manila stop at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan in the preliminary round, the league will also visit Batangas City, Ilagan City (Isabela), and Passi City (Iloilo)—a testament to PVL’s push to bring top-level volleyball closer to fans nationwide.
A total of 12 teams, split into two pools, will vie for the crown in this grueling but exciting campaign.
Pool A is led by newly-crowned All-Filipino Conference champion Petro Gazz Angels, along with Choco Mucho Flying Titans, PLDT High Speed Hitters, Galeries Tower Highrisers, Farm Fresh Foxies, and Nxled Chameleons.
Meanwhile, Pool B features powerhouse Creamline, alongside Chery Tiggo Crossovers, Cignal, Akari, ZUS Coffee, and Capital1.
Under the single round-robin format running from June 22 to July 29, the top two teams from each pool will advance to the quarterfinals. Teams ranked 3rd to 6th will battle in knockout play-in matches for a chance to progress. The semifinals and medal games will also be single-elimination, culminating in the championship match and awarding of PVL Invitational Conference berths, set for August 19 to 29.
Each provincial stop features two consecutive matchdays with four teams from the same pool competing twice. Meanwhile, the Filoil Centre in San Juan will host three separate matchdays with two matches per day. The knockout stages and finals will unfold between Philsports Arena in Pasig City and the Filoil EcoOil Centre, promising an action-packed conclusion to the tour.
The tour’s next stop is Batangas City on June 28, spotlighting clashes such as Choco Mucho vs. Galeries Tower and Nxled vs. Petro Gazz. On June 29, Petro Gazz meets Galeries Tower, while Choco Mucho faces Nxled to cap off the Batangas leg.
With new players, coaching changes, and rising stars in the mix, the PVL on Tour 2025 guarantees fans a thrilling ride filled with surprises, fierce rivalries, and unforgettable moments across the country.
