PLDT Rolls Past ZUS Coffee, Awaits Chery Tiggo–Kobe Shinwa Winner in PVL Finals
PLDT High Speed Hitters overcame a slow start and powered past ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles, 24-26, 25-17, 25-17, 25-14, to close the elimination round on a high note in the 2025 PVL Invitational Conference on Thursday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The High Speed Hitters stretched their franchise-best winning streak to 12 games, while the Thunderbelles, currently at 0-4, still have a chance to secure their first win of the conference in their final game against Creamline.
Davison Leads the Charge
Savi Davison once again showed why she has been PLDT’s go-to scorer, exploding for 26 points while adding 12 digs and seven receptions in an all-around performance. Behind setter Kim Fajardo’s 23 excellent sets, Kianna Dy chipped in 13 points, while middle blockers Mika Reyes and Dell Palomata tallied 11 apiece.
Thunderbelles’ Early Fight
ZUS Coffee briefly stunned PLDT in the opening set, with veterans Wielyn Estoque and Kate Santiago delivering clutch hits to steal the frame, 26-24. But missing key players like Jovelyn Gonzaga, Thea Gagate, Alyssa Eroa, and AC Miner, the Thunderbelles struggled to sustain their momentum.
From the second set onward, it was all PLDT. Davison and Dy led a furious rally, while the High Speed Hitters pulled away with a 10-point cushion in the fourth set before Jessey De Leon sealed the victory.

Eyes on the Finals
With the win, PLDT swept the eliminations at 5-0, continuing a dominant run that began in the preseason, where they also went unbeaten. The High Speed Hitters now await the winner between Chery Tiggo (3-1) and Kobe Shinwa University (3-1) for the right to challenge them in the one-game final.
At stake is the chance to complete back-to-back championships and match Creamline’s rare feat of consecutive PVL crowns.
