PLDT remains unbeaten, sweeps Nxled

PLDT High Speed Hitters extended their winning streak to three matches after a dominant straight-set victory over Nxled Chameleons, 32-30, 25-18, 25-17, in the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference on Tuesday at the PhilSports Arena.

The win marks PLDT’s third consecutive victory, maintaining their unblemished record in Pool A.

Erika Santos led the charge for the High Speed Hitters, racking up 19 points, including 16 attacks and three blocks, with an impressive 42% scoring efficiency. The opening set was a marathon affair, with PLDT edging out Nxled 32-30, setting the tone for the rest of the match.

Russian import Elena Samoilenko was a key player for PLDT, contributing 20 points, 19 from attacks, and adding nine excellent receptions. Santos, alongside Samoilenko, delivered her best performance of the conference, helping her team secure the top spot in Pool A with a perfect 3-0 record.

Fiola Ceballos also made significant contributions, scoring eight points and registering 12 excellent digs and five excellent receptions. Majoy Baron added five blocks to her six points total, while Mika Reyes and Kim Fajardo chipped in five points each, with Fajardo providing 14 excellent sets.

For Nxled, Chiara Permentilla led the team with 15 points and 11 excellent receptions, while Trisha Genesis added 12 points, nine excellent receptions, and seven excellent digs. American middle blocker Meegan Hart was limited to seven points, with three coming from blocks.

With this loss, the Chameleons fall to a 1-2 record, tied with Farm Fresh in the fourth and fifth spots in Pool A. Nxled will look to bounce back against Farm Fresh on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the same venue.

PLDT aims to continue their winning streak as they face Chery Tiggo on Saturday at 5:00 p.m., also at the Philsports Arena.
