Magnolia dominates Rain or Shine in Game 2

Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots delivered a commanding performance, demolishing Rain or Shine, 121-69, in Game 2 of their PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup quarterfinals series on Friday at the Sta. Rosa Sports Complex in Laguna.

Jabari Bird, Magnolia’s new import, made a strong debut, contributing 22 points and 13 rebounds. Calvin Abueva also played well, with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

In an explosive first half, the Hotshots blew the game wide open, outscoring the Elasto Painters 32-5 in a dominant second quarter. By halftime, Magnolia held a staggering 66-28 lead, leaving Rain or Shine scrambling for answers.

Mark Barroca dished out 10 assists along with his 11 points. Magnolia’s balanced attack saw four other players scoring in double digits, underscoring the team’s depth.

Rain or Shine struggled to find their rhythm throughout the game, and they were unable to match Magnolia’s intensity. The Elasto Painters will need to regroup and play much better in Game 3 if they want to stay alive in the series.

Adrian Nocum led the Elasto Painters with 13 points, while Felix Lemetti contributed 11 points, but the team struggled to keep up with the Hotshots, particularly during their dismal second quarter.
