Game 3 Preview: TNT vs. NLEX

The PBA Governors’ Cup quarterfinals series between NLEX Road Warriors and TNT Tropang Giga reaches a critical juncture as both teams gear up for a pivotal Game 3.

With the series tied at 1-1, the winner of this match will take a crucial 2-1 advantage in the best-of-five showdown.

NLEX comes into Game 3 riding high after a gritty 93-90 victory in Game 2, where they showcased endgame composure to fend off TNT’s rally. DeQuan Jones was the star of the night, pouring in 38 points and grabbing 12 rebounds to help his team even the series. His dominant performance was key in a contest that saw nine deadlocks and 16 lead changes.

Jones received solid support from Robert Bolick, who contributed 16 points, including a vital three-point play late in the game that gave NLEX the lead for good. Bolick’s clutch moments and the team’s defensive grit were pivotal in holding off the top-seeded Tropang Giga.

TNT, on the other hand, will look to regroup and regain the upper hand after narrowly missing a chance to force overtime in Game 2. Reigning Best Import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson did all he could, finishing with 22 points, 22 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals, and 2 blocks, but his missed free throws in the final seconds proved costly.

Despite their Game 2 loss, TNT remains a formidable force. Hollis-Jefferson’s all-around play will be crucial once again, but the Tropang Giga will need more contributions from their supporting cast to prevent NLEX from taking control of the series. Tightening up execution in crunch time will be a key focus for TNT coach Jojo Lastimosa, as another close defeat could leave the defending champions on the ropes.

The stage is set for a thrilling encounter at 5:00 p.m. at the Ynares Center, with both teams expected to leave everything on the court as they fight for the upper hand in this fiercely contested quarterfinal series.
