Game 3 Preview: Rain or Shine vs. TNT

Defending champion TNT Tropang Giga is looking to move one step closer to another finals appearance as they face Rain or Shine in Game 3 of their PBA Governors’ Cup semifinal series today at the Dasmariñas Arena in Cavite.

Holding a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series, TNT has shown its dominance and looks poised to potentially sweep their way to the finals.

After a 108-91 victory in Game 2, TNT appears to have tightened its grip on the series, showing an even wider margin of victory compared to their nine-point win in Game 1.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, once again, was the driving force behind the Tropang Giga’s offense and defense. The import tallied 23 points, eight rebounds, and two assists, maintaining his status as the superior player over his Rain or Shine counterpart, Aaron Fuller.

Calvin Oftana and Rey Nambatac also took turns dismantling Rain or Shine’s defense in Game 2. Oftana posted a double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds, while Nambatac added 17 points, six boards, and four assists, further proving that TNT has a deep pool of talent capable of stepping up when needed.

For Rain or Shine, the odds of climbing out of this 2-0 hole are growing slimmer by the game. Fuller’s underwhelming performance in Game 2—13 points and six rebounds—left the Elasto Painters lacking the inside presence needed to challenge TNT’s dominance. His struggles on the boards gave TNT multiple second-chance opportunities and easy points.

The Elasto Painters, however, are far from conceding the series. Coach Yeng Guiao’s squad will need to find ways to limit TNT’s offensive rhythm if they are to avoid falling into a dreaded 3-0 deficit. A win in Game 3 could spark the turnaround they need, but it will require a far more disciplined and aggressive effort from both Fuller and the rest of the Rain or Shine lineup.

The stage is set for a crucial Game 3, with TNT looking to potentially seal Rain or Shine’s fate, while the Elasto Painters fight to keep their season alive. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m.
