Watanabe bowed out early in Judo competition
Filipina-Japanese judoka Kiyomi Watanabe’s Olympic journey came to an abrupt end after a swift defeat in the Round of 32 of the women’s -63kg category.
Watanabe was no match for China’s Tang Jing, who secured an early ippon victory just 51 seconds into the match. The Filipino judoka, competing in her second Olympics, was unable to mount a significant challenge against her opponent.
The loss marks a disappointing end to Watanabe’s Olympic campaign, as she aimed to improve on her previous performance in Tokyo. Despite the early exit, her participation in the Games continues to inspire Filipino athletes and fans.
